Famvir Review
Famvir Formulation for Herpes Virus
Famvir or famciclovir is a drug that has been created to mainly treat people with genital herpes to be able for them to get back their healthy immune system. This anti-viral drug needs to be prescribed to you by a doctor. This can also treat infections caused by the Herpes Simplex Virus (which is also known as HSV). The virus usually occurs on the skin and works out mucous in Human Immunodeficiency Virus-infected patients. This drug can also treat shingles.
Famvir comes as an oral tablet available as 125 mg., 250 mg., and 500 mg. The first two are round in shape while the latter is oval. There are such differences in mg because gender, age, immunity, and allergic reactions all take part and are factors that doctors do take a look at before they prescribe which one to give to a patient. If this was not prescribed, you may start buying some for yourself and the next thing you will know is you could end up in some hospital because of your body's reaction to the drugs because it was not right for you, therefore we recommend that you speak to your doctor first.
Clinical studies were done with patients who had Herpes Zoster, Recurrent Genital Herpes, Suppression of Recurrent Genital Herpes, Herpes Labialis, and Recurrent Mucocutaneous Herpes Simplex Infection as well as those who had the Human Immunodeficiency Virus. Though they were all random cases and of different types of Herpes, each condition was effectively treated with Famvir.
Famvir works in a very unique way. After it is administered, it will go to into a "bio transformation" that will be reacting to the active antiviral compound found in the same tablet. So if there is a mutation of the Herpes Virus in your body, there is this "bio transformation" process that will then cause the drug to still be able to kill the new type of Herpes. It would not be the original drug that would react with the new virus. It would be the new Famvir type (the transformed version) that would do the new task.
Dosage and administration varies on your condition and on your infection. For herpes zoster-infected patients, the dosage is recommended to 500 mg with 8-hour interval time for 7 days. For herpes simplex-infected patients with recurrent genital herpes, the dosage is recommended to 1000 mg every 12 hours for only 24 hours. And for the suppression of recurrent genital herpes, the dosage that is recommended is 250 mg every 12 hours for a year. In recurrent herpes labialis, the dosage recommended is 1500 mg but it is taken in just one dose. And for the human immunodeficiency virus-infected patients with genital herpes simplex infection or recurrent orolabial, the dosage of Famvir recommended is 500 mg every 12 hours for seven days.
